The Institute of Social Economic Research (ISER) at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) was established in April 2018 as the university's dedicated research institute. ISER is tasked with carrying out in-depth research and survey on a wide range of social and economic issues, as well as nation building and Malaysia-China Relations. ISER also regularly engages with the think tanks, media, businesses and the public, through various activities such as conferences and seminars, consultation and research projects.

Since its establishment, ISER has been actively engaged in academic and strategic research initiatives. The institute has successfully forged strong partnerships with leading think tanks, including the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) in China and the Tun Tan Cheng Lock Institute of Social Studies (TCLI) at UTAR in Malaysia. 

ISER regularly organizes conferences, seminars, talks, and survey polls as part of its research activities.

In addition to hosting seminars, talks, and survey polls, ISER maintains an active academic publishing programme.

ISER provides professional report writing and editorial services, delivering polished, research-driven content for academic, institutional, and industry needs.
